Confidence doubles when your appreciated – Ranganath Desai

Man, who is one among the creatures in nature with millions of other creatures. Nature is the home for all creatures. It is humans who need to maintain balance in nature.

In the name of civilization and development, we, humans are destroying nature to fulfill our needs and wants. The endless use of natural resources is destroying the wildlife habitation, and animals are getting homeless, and due to this, they are entering the cities and towns. Snakes are one of the most dangerous creatures on Earth. But, most of the time, these creatures are peaceful until someone disturbs them.

Here is one of the LEADers, Mr. Ranganath Desai from Rao Bahadur Mahabaleswarappa Engineering College, Ballari whose best friend is Snake. He protects the snakes from humans and spreads awareness about the facts of snakes’ life. He not only protects them from humans but also treats the snakes medically that are wounded and have any kind of cut on the body and he also takes care of it, and after recovering he leaves snakes in the forest. Because of Ranganath’s initiative, the death rate of snakes has decreased in Ballari.
Most of the people are joining hands with Ranganath to save the lives of snakes. People contact him through calls and messages for rescue operations, and he charges nothing to do it. He not only rescues the snakes but also has rescued dogs, monkeys, and birds. Till now, over 200 snakes, 15 Dogs, 2 monkeys, and 2 birds have been rescued successfully by Ranganath. He said rescuing the mother monkey and its child was one challenging rescue operation for him till now. Even, he conducts awareness programs in schools and colleges as a seminar, which has benefited more than 5000 people in Ballari to have proper knowledge of snakes. He has become a real hero for snakes as his work is dangerous and needs patience more than a common man does. Now, he is a Snake- Rescuer of his locality. This move-in society not only brought a small change but also made humans realize their mistakes.
Because of his work and dedication, he got an opportunity for a project showcase at the 10th Yuva summit. Here, LEADer Ranganath has shared his experience.

“I was happy that I got a chance to be a part of the 10th Yuva Summit 2020. At the Yuva summit, I got an opportunity to showcase my initiative. I had never even thought of it, as I was lucky. I felt great as I was one of the 50 LEADers in the Project showcase. I learned more even when I got to interact with other LEADers in the project showcase and many of the great personalities, who came to me and had an interaction. I shared my experience and initiative idea, and even they gave me some advice about how to promote and improve my initiative further. It was great learning for me in my life. I had been surrounded by lots of people around me, who made me realize that we don’t always need to do big things and ideas to change society. We can start it with a small step and ideas which can later result in big achievement. As in the session “Evening with the Legends”, it was a life-changing movement for me as I never even expected that I received “THE BEST PROJECT AWARD”, it was an unforgettable moment for me as I received an award at the hands of the great personality of India, Mr. Gururaj Deshpande. This day was one of the best days of my life. It made me realize my potential, and it boosted me to perform more and more.

I am very thankful to the Despande Foundation and my mentor who supported me and gave me a wonderful platform of opportunity called “LEAD”.

It was a life-changing experience for LEADer Ranganath Desai in the LEAD program and 10th Yuva Summit.
