Skills can change Lives


Youth are the most energized group of the society, who are the fountains of enthusiasm. They are bubbling with full of ideas and have greater potentials to achieve them. If this enthusiasm and ideas are utilized in a proper way, we can bring a revolution in the world which will shape the society in positive way. The main hope of any nation lies in the proper education of its youth. So education is important for the younger generation because it provides them the tools and skills. A skillful education is required to make them aware of their responsibilities towards the society and its development.             India is the second most populated county in the world consisting the heights number of youth in the world. It has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35 years. Now we can imagine the amount of youth power our country is blessed with. If utilized correctly no doubt India will be the leading country in the world. Simultaneously the increasing number of youths have raised the concern towards the increasing unemployment in the country. So it’s high time we work on the solution of this spreading problem. Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the minds to think. We should also realize that going to the college and getting certificate is not enough to get a job in the current era. We need to have a right skills to perform the work. Everybody requires a skilled person to perform the job not just a graduate who work blindly like a donkey. Our Prime Minister Modi says that “The more we give importance to skill development, the more competent the youth will be”.

      Understanding the importance of skills for youth, the whole world celebrates 15th July as the World Youth Skill Day. On the account of World Youth Skill Day. The LEADers of Government Polytechnic College, Hiriyur and Bapuji degree college, Challakere celebrated it effectively with more than 2000 plus students of 5 colleges which included 2 degree colleges and 3 ITI colleges. 12 LEADer including Ashwath, Dinesh, Priya, Pooja and many others visited the colleges and interacted with the students. They explained them the importance of the skill developments and how it will help them in seeking jobs in future. They also explained the students about the goal settings, time management and personality development techniques.

They performed different activities with the students in order to overcome their stage fear and boost their self-confidence. The LEADers say that “To have a successful economic development of a country we must focus on improving the skills of their youths”. They said that controlling the crowd was one of the major problem they faced. But they managed to get the attention of the students by explaining them about how important it is to have skill along with the education. They also said that by performing this project they feel satisfied and happy. They also said that they have improved their communication skills and overcame the stage fear they had by performing this project. It was a wonderful experience for them.

The LEADers are on the mission to contribute for the skill India. They are continuing their work of encouraging the students in skill development are aiming to reach 10,000 students in coming days. Great job LEADers and all the best for your work.
