Prerna is the Founder of Outline India - a for profit, social enterprise in India that stands for creating social impact through data. Outline India has recently started operations in Nepal and is eyeing Africa in early 2019. Her research startup has changed the way data is collected and utilized for social schemes and programs by academics, policy makers, private stakeholders and the Indian government. Founded in 2012, with a strong presence across rural India, Outline India has worked across 24 states, in over 5000 villages and interviewed over 3 million stakeholders.
Prerna is currently focusing on building Track your metrics (TYM) - an assessment tool for small NGOs and big funders to enable building of impact metrics and to bring in accountability across the development world, thereby changing the way we track and finance social programs at ~0 unit cost. TYM recently won at an accelerator program in India and in California and Prerna hopes to raise funds for it in the coming year. Prerna was featured on Fortune magazines' 40 under 40 list for her disruptive work with ground level data in 2017 and again in 2018. She was recently featured among top 25 businesswomen in India by Forbes magazine, in their annual issue featuring women leaders running profitable companies.
She was a 2018 Chevening Fellow at Oxford University offered by the UK government and Rolce Royce. She is a 2017 Raisina Fellow awarded by Ministry of External Affairs, and a 2016 Australia India Youth Dialogue Fellow. She has prior research experience working at Centre for Policy Research and holds an MA in Economics from Boston University.
